The contemporary house is designed by Sturgess Architecture for its client which is a small family with a couple of kids. The client also need space to host their extended family and other visitors, so the architect divided the main house from the guest accomodation and linked them under one roof.
Located on the steep cliff site, the modern house faces north overlooking Howe Sound, and ties back to the upthrusting rock face that fdrops 100m to the water below. An elongated bowtie plan maximizes the aperture of glazing and view to the North, while on approach from the South, only the roof marks its presence in the landscape.
Naturally finished slate, cedar shingles and copper coloured roof denote a building that challenges with form yet eases itself into the coastal context. The entrance leads through the blasted rock to a sheltered deck, and landscape features are left in their original state.

Homes to die for. Simply looove them..
You can’t get any closer to nature than this, except perhaps by featuring huge photography of wildlife in the interiors.
