Kevin deFreitas architect has completed an eco friendly minimalist house design which stated the quintessential Southern Californian courtyard houses. The goal of the project was to design and construct a highly efficient home that would employ passive and active strategies to significantly reduce energy, water, and resource consumption all while delivering a modern, comfortable and livable home for a young family of six.
The result of the effort through concerted research and various experimentation was completely satisfying. It successfully consuming 65% less electricity that standard given by the state. The eco friendly house also use 55% less water on a comparable house size without sacrificing comfort and aesthetics.
