Brisbane, Australia. A city with population of 2,15 million (2011), has its growing trend of residential architecture in the past years. Banya House from Brisbane-based firm, TONIC studio is a mixture of modern rectangular shaped architecture, a green outdoor experience with some eclectic addition to its interior.

Its the grassy lawns that welcome the residents and guests. The openness of the house is reflected by displaying its complex facade featuring a welcoming vertical entrance behind the covered gate. Arranged around a central courtyard, living zones were capable to offer an almost seamless connection to the outdoor space.

Sliding glass walls is a smart component found in the house, since it wraps a light-filled house which can also be adapted to fit a multitude of potential occupants.

A long, sculptural red and black kitchen counter stretches to shape the kitchen and continues with a living space highlighted with red seating. The kitchen’s other side is the extendable dining room towards the outdoor BBQ across the covered terrace.

Upstairs spaces are private but have the same transparency visually linking to the central courtyard – a glass railing system creates a terrace overlooking the swimming pool.
