Hutchison & Maul Architecture have designed a beautiful country house for bird-lovers looking for a luxurious place to kick back and enjoy the view. Located on Vashon Island, Washington, the Bird House blends beautifully with surrounding countryside, due to its massive use of glass and wood for its facade.
The amazing 2,400-sq.-ft. home consists of two volumes – a living pavilion, and a sleeping tower, which are connected via a glazed entry foyer. The expansive main roof overhangs on each side of the house, giving the illusion of a pair of wings in flight. Interiors are warm, featuring lots of rustic wood from ceiling to floor throughout the home, creating a charming, country chic ambience. Beyond this, the main focus is always on the windows, and the world outside.
