Collection of modern, minimalist, and eco friendly architectural design for your home inspiration
Situated on the hillside Arlesheim, Swiss-based firm Marchal + Fürstenberger Architects have completed a contemporary family house design with a unique apporoach where the floor appears to float over a glass-walled living space.
The three story building consist of a basement cut into the hillside beneath a large terrace, which is connected to the living area by frameless sliding glass doors, while the larger upper storey cantilevers over the terrace, shading the glass.
At the ground level a generous living room with floor to ceiling, nearly frameless sliding windows is connected to a vast terrace providing views into and beyond the valley and hilly landscape. Using ground heat and controlled ventilation, the building conforms to current standards for sustainable energy use. Photography by Theo Scherrer
