Malibu 5: Eco Friendly House with Solar as the Energy Source

A team of architects led by Stephen Kanner has completed an eco friendly house design in California, USA. Occupying an area of 3,300 square feet, the house is constructed from environmentally-friendly and recycled materials and designed to minimize energy consumption.

Facing the beautiful Pacific Coast, the house really maximize the force of nature by using the sea-breeze for air conditioning agent and also the abundant solar energy for conventional energy needs. Equipped with solar panels that produce ample energy and natural ventilation options, it sports spacious interiors with contemporary design and relies on a very efficient base for all its insulation and heating needs during nights.

Ground-level concrete floors act as heat sinks, pulling in the Sun’s energy during the day and releasing it at night. They also provide radiant heating, making use of water heated on the roof.

The inexpensive scratched-plaster exterior is painted an earthy terra cotta color to provide a natural texture that smoothes the house’s introduction to its environment. The color is inspired by the hue of an African soil the architect found in West Africa.

It’s a good lesson. It’s simple, stylish and sustainable architecture.

Woodworking is a piece of cake …

With tons of blueprints (over 16,000!) for different furniture designs and outdoor woodwork projectsyou can have a great insight into how to build different things with wood. In it, they tell you about wood, how to design projects, the detailed photographs, patterns, blueprints, materials list and step by step instructions on how to put build them.

The second part shows you the different tools and how to use them, and a complete guide to woodwork carpentry. And the color photographs and drawings are beautiful and show a lot of detail.
