Collection of modern, minimalist, and eco friendly architectural design for your home inspiration
As a guest house or studio in a lush yard, the KitHaus modular homes is the perfect choice since it delivers a breezy backyard feel. A family in Williamsburg, Brooklyn has able to perform lush atmosphere by building their K4 house modules. They added some decking and potted plants, thus making the K4 house which mostly made from wood became greener.

The Williamsburg, Brooklyn K4 KitHaus is sandwiched between a brick rowhouse, a warehouse and light industrial building. The installers had to hand carry all the pieces through a 3-story rowhouse to get it to the back yard, at the building stage. The custom deck then built around the house to create a modern green pre-fab which serves as a little urban oasis.

Considered as an eco friendly house project, the KitHaus is built with many green components to maximize energy efficiency and space. The architectural engineer Tim Siahatgar, has helped them to built the structure which was made of MHS aluminum building system. The structure also uses Green Wall SIPs infill walls. The SIPs, or structural insulated panels, have R-14 insulation and all the windows and doors have low-E glazing. All other wood is IPE Brazilian hardwood, which is FSC-certified and naturally resistant to mold, rot, and insects. IPE is 8 times harder than redwood and guaranteed to last 25 years without treatment. Additionally, all KitHAUSes can be upgraded with a 1 kilowatt customized photovoltaic system to harness some of the sun’s rays for energy.

The K4 KitHaus is available for sell with the new modules with options for louvers, decks, and canopies on Design Within Reach. The prices are ranged between $29,500 and up to $44,900.
