Devereux Architects firm has completed a project in Torbay of Centre for Education, Innovation and Research. The aim given to the architect was to replace the existing medical centre, which contains limited facilities, with a new state of the art Centre of Learning, incorporating a range of flexible learning spaces, seminar and teaching rooms, offices and a café area, as well as high tech clinical skills areas and a simulated operating theatre.

Since the building is located on an access route to the hospital, it also act as a ‘gateway’ to the hospital. At the same time, the Centre should be seen to place education and learning as part of the core of the site’s activities.

To deliver the objectives into reality, the architect culmitanates in a twenty first century education facility of stimulating and innovative design incorporating the latest use of technology and information technology. The design creates an environment that assists with the Education and Research objectives of the Trust whilst encouraging interaction and motivational learning amongst staff and visitors alike.
