Minimalist Japanese House Design in Kanagawa – Beat Pack House by Studio LOOP

Located in Samigahara City, Kanagawa, Japan, architecture firm Studio LOOP has completed a minimalist house design that offers privacy, and at the same time maintains natural light via a central plaza. The house development involves the concept of nLDK (n = number of private rooms, L =living, D = dining, K = kitchen) that describes how much a value that a house has.

The Plaza inside the house is conceived as LDK. Rather that being as a park opening to the nature, the Plaza is more like Plaza del Campo, Siena in Rome, Italy, which brings invisible relief into resident’s mind when they are there. It’s like been leading to be an illusion between inside and outside.

Each room is connected by a spiral staircase to the basement buried under study to ensure the four rooms and terraces were requested. Giving the impression that stretch toward the sky from the ground up and down the spiral staircase from the square space is born to do this thing.

Coping with the low cost budget demand, the architect created the exterior skin from only one material, and thought the house should be a mass and a unity object. Black color is chosen which makes its existence appearing in the urban environment.
