Collection of modern, minimalist, and eco friendly architectural design for your home inspiration
Located in Washington’s Methow Valley, the Rolling Huts are the perfect accommodation. Designed as a modern alternative to camping by Tom Kundig of Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects in Seattle, the six huts are grouped as a herd, each with views of the mountains.
The construction of each hut is simple. It is, in essence, an offset, steel clad box on a steel and wood platform. Living occurs not only in the 200 sq ft inside the box, but on the 240 sq ft of covered deck space surrounding it. Interior finishes – cork and plywood – are simple, inexpensive, and left as raw as possible. Exteriors are durable, no-maintenance materials made of steel, plywood and car-decking.
With tons of blueprints (over 16,000!) for different furniture designs and outdoor woodwork projectsyou can have a great insight into how to build different things with wood. In it, they tell you about wood, how to design projects, the detailed photographs, patterns, blueprints, materials list and step by step instructions on how to put build them.
The second part shows you the different tools and how to use them, and a complete guide to woodwork carpentry. And the color photographs and drawings are beautiful and show a lot of detail.

Very nice and ingenious portable huts..
It looks very modern and intricate on the outside but the interiors need a little tweaking.
I do understand and respect the designer’s design but then again, a little match with the modern exteriors and the modern functions that the home offers with how the interiors look wouldn’t hurt.
I do know it should be a hut, a portable one, so why not maximize the interiors and give it a more glamorous and comfortable appeal. =)
I am would like to know what it costs to build a hut and if the design plans can be purchased.
What does it cost for a kit? What would the cost be to construct one in New Mexico?
