Small doesn’t always mean less. A minimal space of less than 66 square meters can be transformed into a magnificent small residence design. At the hand of a brilliant designers of Satoshi Okada Architect, the house which comes in geometrical design does apply the modern living concept that collaborated with capability to handle space limitation.
Made of 2×4 members and laminated panels at most, the structure is made upon the wood construction. Due to the ground weakness, long piles are required to maintain this building right at its position. The light construction of timbers as well as pliotis with the least number of spots touching the ground was favorable in decreasing the number and length of piles.
The house includes 3 structural elements that lift up the double-layered living section. The largest element in the Container Structure is the core accommodating the staircase, storage, washing place for the dog, and lavatory. The other two elements house utility pipes and wires, and are so to say arms that become thin as bones toward the ground.
In compliance to prevention codes, inframable material were used for interior and exterior finishings. Covered with 5mm slit boards of rustproof steel sheet 1 mm thick, the exterior walls is placed at a distance of 5mm from the base steel plates to create heat-insulatlng air space in between, in order to provide comfortable interior environment during summer seasons.
