Sustainable and Low Maintenance Residence Design – Salvado Street Residence by Bates Smart Architects

Designed for a retired couple in Cottesloe, Western Australia, the Salvado Street House adapt its design from beach home with a clear and rational design in order to response the local climate. Minimal lines and planar forms reference its modernist inspiration whilst materiality and detailing draw from a local palette of materials.

The planning concept is based on a courtyard typology featuring a pond, around which the private spaces and the public entertainment spaces are organized. The duality of space functionality is emphasized architecturally by separate treatments of the private and public spaces: the public spaces are open plan, outward-oriented and unenclosed spaces gathered under a floating Miesian roof whilst the private spaces are inwardly focused and enclosed within thick masonry walls which create a sense of privacy and retreat.

Woodworking is a piece of cake …

With tons of blueprints (over 16,000!) for different furniture designs and outdoor woodwork projectsyou can have a great insight into how to build different things with wood. In it, they tell you about wood, how to design projects, the detailed photographs, patterns, blueprints, materials list and step by step instructions on how to put build them.

The second part shows you the different tools and how to use them, and a complete guide to woodwork carpentry. And the color photographs and drawings are beautiful and show a lot of detail.

A good idea to talk about the need to have big mansions for lnviig it. I feel most families are wasting space they live in to large of houses. They don’t need that much it is a great impact to our endowment
