Located on the West Swedish Landscape, Villa Astrid by Wingardhs is a two storey building, carved on a cliff and dictated by the local building code, which stipulates a 3.5-metre eaves height and a roof pitch between 14 and 27 degrees.
The building consists of upper and lower floor. The first floor contains the bedrooms and other private space, and the second floor has an open-plan kitchen, a separate dining room and a large lounge, for outdoor relaxing it has an outdoor lounge with outdoor fireplace.
The exterior was made from concrete, insulated with foamglass and the clad with metal sheeting. The glazed sections resemble holes cut out of solid copper armour plating. The structure is very robust. Concrete roof beams insulated with foam glass repose on the walls of lightweight concrete, giving a totally impervious structure beneath the skin of patinated copper.
