Collection of modern, minimalist, and eco friendly architectural design for your home inspiration
In the midst of Valongo city, District of Porto, Portugal, this box-shaped minimalist house was completed last 2011. The architect, Carlos Nuno Lacerda, has designed this house plan as able to maximize the use of natural light, ventilation and spatial experience.
The installation of several square paneled windows gives a well illuminated interior, along with adaptable spaces and safe dwelling criteria. The spaces were designed with height divergences, gaps and openings of light, resulting in a multitude of volumes that relate differently.
On the other hand, there was a particular concern about the limits’ dilution between interior/exterior in the room, kitchen and gym/spa. This was seen as an extension to the outside through large glazed surfaces, taking the maximum advantage of the site and simultaneously ensuring adequate privacy, achieved through the design of landscape architecture.
The design took advantage of the entire site while providing adequate privacy all at the same time. The landscape is inspirational as it allows the architectural design of the house to float on its background emphasizing modern living. The house has fluid and smooth continuity as well as unity which served as the major key in the selection of the materials utilized in the construction. Photography by Nelson Garrido
